We are thrilled about the interest and want to thank EDGE magazine for this wonderful feature!
The gamescom, meanwhile the biggest worldwide fair for games and entertainment, was a huge success for Periscope und psai®!
In two seperate booths we were finally able to showcase the first commercial integration of our audio technology psai®. In dtp's new adventure "Black Mirror 3" one could experience the huge potential of psai®. After a short ingame-demo everybody agreed that: the soundtrack is particularly atmospheric, revolutionary interactive and sounds wonderful. We are very pleased with the positive feedback!
Another premiere was the collaboration between Periscope and animation-specialist PiXABLE Studios. Trading under the name "OKTOLOT" we will produce trailers together.
The latest "Black Mirror 3" trailer is the first fruit of this new joint venture. Another outcome of "OKTOLOT" is the new promotional trailer for the upcoming browsergame "Bloodlines" (Hellscreen Productions). Every trailer can be seen on the newly created "OKTOLOT" youtube-channel.

The "Lightsaber" video stars Periscope's Finn Seliger(Research and Development) demonstrating a "virtual sword fight" with the use of a Nintendo Remote, illustrating through aggressive and passive hand movements, the music score adapting to his actions.

Periscope to localize english cult-brand!
The Periscope team is currently recording for "Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures." We appreciate the fantastic cooperation with developer Telltale (ex-LucasArts, Tales of Monkey Island, Sam & Max, etc.) and publisher Daedalic (A New Beginning, The Whispered World).
We recorded the new adventures of the two cheese-loving gentlemen with their original voice actors like Peter Kirchberger (Wallace). In order to deliver each episode in time we divided over 9,000 lines and 94,000 words into individual productionstages. The first episode has already left Periscope Studio and will be available from 27th
of July!

Periscope Studio Hamburg took the inspiration for its name from the WW2 submarine factory bunker it renovated as its studio in 2007. Buried deep within the sound deadening earth and situated in the heart of Germany's "Media Centre" Hamburg, Periscope Studio is pushing the boundaries of audio and recording for videogames.
Over the past 3 years, Periscope Studio has quietly forged itself a strong reputation in Germany for its innovative and creative audio services. Nominated twice in the 2009 German Develop awards for "Best Soundtrack" on the PC adventure games "Black Mirror 2" and "The Whispered World", Periscope has proved itself one of the most successful and innovative videogame audio studios in Europe.
Periscope has also developed its own middleware product known as "psai®" (pronounced "psy") which stands for "Periscope Studio Audio Intelligence" which when applied to videogames, intelligently matches the game music and context to the actions of the player, ensuring game-play experiences are unique to each and every player.
Jan Werkmeister, Managing Director explains, "psai® was, quite simply, borne out of necessity. We have worked on original film, TV and TV advertising scores in the past and the linear approach of providing music for certain scenes at certain lengths works very well. But, applying the same structure to gaming, where the player has control of the game progression, didn't work for us. We worked with every audio technology product available, but still we were not satisfied with the end result. It caused delays in reworking levels when the developers changed certain elements, meant time was wasted and as such, our original scores were not working as intended. With psai®, we eliminate these issues, add to cost savings and at the same time, develop a game-play ingredient which completely enhances the emotional and interactive nature of gaming."
In addition to cutting-edge middleware, Periscope Studio boasts state-of-the-art sound recording facilities, original score writing talent - which utilises small instrumental pieces to full orchestral support - and a consultancy service for developers and publishers alike from all language voice-overs to bespoke technical assistance.

Periscope Studio hired from January 2010 two new employees for the development of the audio middleware psai®. Thorsten Heinze assumes the position of the Product-Manager psai®, with more than 10 years of experience inside the international Games-Business including roles as QA Manager at Crytek, Product Testing Supervisor at Nintendo of Europe and Business Line Manager Games at Testronic Labs he has the best prospects to push psai® further. Aside from the emphasis on Project Management and Quality Assurance he has a vast experience of the production of several international AAA-Titles. He will be supported at software development and technical support by Andreas Pongs, previously Exit Games. Andreas has a profound knowledge coding C++ and inside the theory and use of interactive music in games. Both take on the planned development targets for 2010. "We are very happy to have won two strong employees for the development of our psai® technology. We are now ideally setup for our development and impetuously attack our next steps" said Finn Seliger, Head of Development at Periscope.
